The University of Birmingham Dubai is accepting applications for its MSc Urban Planning programme, which will begin in January 2023 and September 2023. The primary goal of this programme is to prepare the future generation of urban planners who will need to take a multi- and inter-disciplinary approach to handle contemporary issues and solve associated difficulties that metropolitan regions face.
According to an official statement by the university, the curriculum is based on world-class research conducted by the University of Birmingham's School of Geography, Earth, and Environmental Sciences. According to the release, Dubai is an ideal site to study Urban Planning due to its anticipated expansion under the Dubai 2040 Urban Masterplan. The curriculum delves deeply into the key obstacles to achieving such development in a sustainable manner.
Furthermore, the MSc Urban Planning degree will provide planners in government, private organisations, NGOs, and communities with the understanding, skills, and information they will need to provide innovative solutions to complex issues affecting a varied spectrum of stakeholders. A variety of teaching methods, including lectures, seminars, practitioner presentations, site visits, fieldwork, and studio work, will be used, with an emphasis on education that engages with the real world as much as possible, with Dubai serving as an urban laboratory.
To accomplish this, assessments will be authentic and will include real-life case studies, which will improve not only understanding and skills but also employability.
The MSc Urban Planning programme is accepting applications for the January 2023 and September 2023 intakes.
