A Study Visa is issued to an international student intending to study in one of the education institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic. While applying for a Study Visa, the “For Students” option is applicable for foreign students who have already been enrolled in one of the universities in Kyrgyzstan. The “For Applicants” option is applicable for individuals who are visiting the country for admission.
The first time an international student applies for a study visa, He/She will receive a visa for a duration of 90 days (maximum). Later on, the student must apply to get the visa extended through the help and support of the university where they are enrolled.

International students applying for a student visa at Kyrgyzstan must abide by the Laws of the Land to maintain decor and a healthy atmosphere in the country. Any unlawful or unwanted practice is not acceptable and is handled strictly by the Government of Kyrgyzstan.
Here are some of the rules and regulations that must be followed by all international students applying for a Kyrgyzstan study visa:
Candidates must apply for a visa in advance. Indian applicants can use the e-visa facilities to complete the visa application process.
First-time student visa applicants are eligible to receive a visa, which is valid for 90 days after which they must get the visa renewed through their respective university/college.
Candidates must hold a valid passport and an official letter from the university to apply for a student visa in Kyrgyzstan.
It is mandatory for all international students to have valid documents while applying for a student visa in Kyrgyzstan. The list of documents needed to apply for study visa at Kyrgyzstan is mentioned below:
A copy of the passport of a foreign nation.
A letter of invitation from a Kyrgyzstan university.
A copy of charter documents of the inviting organisation.
Certificate of the insurance premium and tax services on debts.
A certificate of contract when applying for a student visa option.
A certificate from the Ministry of Kyrgyzstan.
Kyrgyzstan has e-visa application options for most international students which makes the entire visa process quite fast and flexible. However, one needs to follow the standard procedure and complete the visa process on time. Check out the step-by-step guidelines to apply for a student visa in Kyrgyzstan here:
1. Visit the Kyrgyzstan government’s official website for the e-visa portal.
2. Under the “Apply for Visa” section, select the country and the type of visa i.e study visa.
3. Add your detailed information in the next section. You must have a valid passport while filling in your details. Applicants can save and continue the application until the complete visa application is submitted.
4. Once all the details are filled and submitted, a confirmation mail will be received on the registered email ID. Confirm the mail and add further details on the e-visa portal.
5. Upload the photograph, scanned copy of the passport and other supporting documents. All documents must be uploaded in a PDF-file except the ID that can be submitted in JPG/JPEG- format.
6. Preview and confirm the details added to the application.
7. Pay the e-visa fee using a credit or debit card.
8. Track the status of the application under the ‘Service’ option of the e-visa portal of Kyrgyzstan.
Do You Satisfy All Student Visa Requirements?
International students who are already enrolled in one of the colleges in Kyrgyzstan must apply for visa extension at least 10 days before the visa expires. Usually, students receive a notification from the Dean Office of their respective college to get their visa extended after which they must directly contact the international office of the college.
The prerequisite to getting the visa extended is as follows:
Students must clear all dues at the college. The tuition and hostel fee must be paid and the receipt must be received.
Students must have a recent photograph, passport, request letter from the college and visa card details.
Now, students must visit the government’s official website for the e-visa portal of Kyrgyzstan and under the “Apply for Visa” section, select country (Kyrgyzstan) and Visa Type (Study). Under the “For Students”, they must select the most appropriate period upto which they wish to get the Visa extended.
In the next step, students will have to add information such as the college details along with their personal details.
Once the details are added and submitted the candidate will receive an email on their registered email ID. Candidates will have to visit the link given in the email ID to proceed further with the visa extension process which includes filling-in additional data and uploading photos and other documents mentioned in the application fields.
Once all the details are added, preview the application and confirm the details mentioned in the application.
Finally, candidates will have to fill in the details mentioned in the visa card and complete the payment for the visa extension. After making the payments, a confirmation mail will be sent on the registered email ID of the student.
As per the resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, as of March 5, 2021, there had been some in the visa processing fees. The updated fee for visa processing is as follows:
Single Entry Student Visa (for a period of upto 2 months)
Multiple Entry Student Visa (for a period of upto 2 months)
Extension of single-entry student visa (for every 30 days)
Extension of multiple-entry student visas (for every 30 days)
Visa Support for 1 Person
It takes 5 working days for the visa application and other documents to be processed. In case, the application and/or the documents are incomplete, the applications will be returned. Further processing is done once the pending documents are uploaded and the application process is renewed.
Kyrgyzstan provides e-visa facilities for citizens of most foreign nations including India.
All processing of the Kyrgyzstan Visa Application is done online. Candidates can visit the Kyrgyzstan e-Visa portal and fill in the visa application form. There is no need to visit the nearest Kyrgyzstan embassy for student visa application.
However, in case the e-visa is not processed or rejected, one can directly apply for a visa through the Kyrgyzstan embassy in India which is located in New Delhi.
Generally, the e-visa application is processed within 5 to 7 working days after completing the application process.
