History, Affiliation and Rankings
Woodbury University was first established as Woodbury’s Business College in 1884 by F.C. Woodbury, an educator, and entrepreneur. Woodbury maintained gender equality since its inception, and this was very progressive at that time. Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), in1961, accredited the college. The college became a non-profit in 1972. Later in 1974, Woodbury college became Woodbury University. US News ranks Woodbury University in #53 among the Regional Universities West ranking.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
To establish the Los Angeles campus, Woodbury acquired an area of 22.40 acres for the suburban campus in Shadow Hills in 1985. Woodbury moved into this new campus officially in 1987, and since it is located near Burbank post, the campus is acknowledged as Burbank Campus. Woodbury is offering undergraduate and graduate courses with a variety of majors from its School of Business; School of Architecture; School of Media, Culture, and Design; and College of Liberal Arts. The university set up Woodbury University San Diego in 1998. It is a satellite campus that offers degrees in Bachelor of Architecture, Master of Architecture, and Master of Interior Architecture.

US News ranks the university at 53 in Regional Universities West, 32 in best value schools, and 31 in Top Performers on Social Mobility. Niche ranks Woodbury at 44 in Best Colleges for Architecture in America, 53 in Best Colleges for Design in America, and 64 in Best Colleges for Film and Photography in America. The Woodbury University has alumni from different fields, such as landscape architect Cleo Baldon, editor in chief of Cosmopolitan magazine Helen Gurley Brown, actor Richard Denning, and republican politician Star Parker.

With a student to faculty ratio at 9:1 and average of 15 students per class, Woodbury maintains a good proportion of diversity. The university holds greater diversity in gender, ethnicity, and geography than the national average of the United States. To improve the profile, the career services department at Woodbury provides various services, such as building a resume, finding an internship, and conducting mock interviews. The department also organizes events, such as professional networking, career workshops, and job fairs, to help students achieve their career goals. Top employers hiring students are Google, Xerox, Wells Fargo and so on.
