University of Windsor Joins Hands with Air Canada to Help International Students Travel

The University of Windsor and Air Canada have partnered up to help students travel to the country and begin their higher education journey. The partnership between the university and the airline will facilitate easier and cheaper travel for international students.

University of Windsor Joins Hands with Air Canada to Help International Students Travel

In a bid to attract more international students and reduce the burden of international education on foreign national students, the University of Windsor has partnered up with Air Canada, the countrys largest airline.

In a statement from the University of Windsor, Air Canada partnership is aimed at helping students travel to Canada and commence their higher education at the institution. Currently, Air Canada serves over 200 airports across the world.

The international students will be able to travel to Canada provided they carry a valid study permit, under present COVID-19 border restrictions. Among the many institutions, the University of Windsor is one of the few Designated Learning Institutions which has had its COVID-19 readiness plan approved.

The international students travelling to the country are also required to carry a negative COVID-19 test. The current pandemic regulations outlined by the government also requires all international travellers to quarantine for a duration of 14 days, irrespective of if they display symptoms of the virus.

The Associate Vice-President for Enrolment Management at the University of Windsor, Chris Busch, stated that the partnership will help international students to access exclusive promotional rates for University of Windsor students. The partnership will also facilitate the process of booking flights as well.

In the statement from the University of Windsor, details of the agreement and the process of booking the qualifying flights will be emailed to the international students.

Over the past year, Canada has been one of the few countries that have been taking initiatives to bring in more international students to the country, despite the pandemic. Canada has taken further steps to attract more students and helping them become permanent residents of the country as well.

Recently, the Government of Canada had announced a policy that allows ex-international students with valid or invalid Post-Graduate Work Permits to apply for open work permits. The initiative was a step towards retaining more international talent within the country, that currently houses a growing ageing population.
