As the US begins to paint itself as the international student-friendly destination once again, universities and colleges across the country have begun extending their arms to welcome international students from across the globe, through scholarships, COVID-19 relief packages and many more aids and assistance that can help international students transition smoothly.
One such university, the University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus is offering a range of new merit-based scholarships that can ease the burden of studying abroad, through the newly developed scholarship opportunities for undergraduate programmes at the University of Colorado Denver.
As per the official notification, enrolling in one of the undergraduate degree programmes at the University of Colorado Denver will automatically qualify any international student to receive a scholarship worth $10,000 each year. Additionally, students will be able to renew the scholarship, i.e. four years for international first-year students and two years for international transfer students.
Director of International Enrollment Management, Clay Harmon, commented that the university hopes to advance its strategic goal of becoming the first equity-serving institution in the US. CU Denver will offer a range of scholarships depending on the academic merit of the candidate and the GPA that they have secured in their previous academic programmes, which has been outlined below.

International Undergraduate Merit-Based Scholarships at the University of Colorado Denver
In its endeavour of supporting international students and their long-term academic and personal aspirations, the International Admissions Office will also offer automatic merit-based scholarships as well as additionally funding such as donor awards and need-based grants. Students will also have the opportunity to avail external and programme specific scholarships. The official notification from CU Denver also added that the scholarships can be combined with employment opportunities and additional financial resources, thus, reducing the financial burden of attendance.
University of Colorado Denver Merit-Based Scholarship Value for International Students
As stated above, international students will automatically be considered for merit-based scholarships for international students at CU Denver. However, there is a process of converting the international grading system scores to the US grading system.

The International GPAs will first be converted to the US 4.0 scale while the admission applications are being reviewed. Depending on the scores, after conversion, students will automatically receive scholarships.
The University of Colorado Denver has opened this scholarship programme to all non-resident, non-sponsored freshmen as well as transfer students.
