Domus Academy is the first postgraduate design school to be opened in Milan, Italy. The Academy was founded in 1982 with a vision to bring students and faculty members from around the world to meet and exchange ideas and to offer the best design courses in the region. Today, Domus Academy is ranked among the top design schools in the world. The Business of Fashion Assessment awarded Domus Academy Special Badges of Excellence in 2019. The Master’s programme offered at Domus Academy is recognised internationally. The degree offered is accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR). QS World Universities Rankings by Subject 2021 ranked Domus Academy as one of the top 5 Universities in Italy, meanwhile, it was among the top 150 Universities in the world in the field of Art and Design.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The campus of Domus Academy is located in the Navigli (canal) district of Milan. The campus houses 13 buildings and is shared with Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA). Within the campus, one can find Domus Academy Design Lab, which is open for students to work on different models and projects, a Fashion Lab to design models and prototypes and a Language Centre where different language courses are taught. The other facilities on campus include a fine arts shop, a copy centre, library, cafeteria etc. Domus Academy has a well-organised library having a huge collection of books,  magazines and journals. The restaurant and cafeteria on the campus have been designed alongside a beautiful grassy lawn and is a famous spot for students at Domus Academy. Students can apply for different master’s programmes in design, fashion and business offered by Domus Academy. 

Accomplishments & Alumni

Domus Academy has been recognised for and awarded several awards over the years for its excellent teaching programmes. In addition, students at Domus Academy have won several prestigious awards and competitions like Vogue Talents, Vogue’s Who Is on Next?, Next Generation contest at Milan Fashion Week, the Red Dot Award, the Samsung Young Design Award etc. Most alumni members of Domus Academy have achieved excellence in their career. Some have won international awards for innovation and fashion collections while others have founded their dream design agencies, fashion brands or are working in the fashion industry and top companies.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

Over 4,000 students from across 50 countries study at Domus Academy in a vigorous environment. The kind of opportunities and exposure one gets at Domus Academy is the reason why a number of students wish to be a part of the academy. Students at Domus Academy get a chance to take part in the different design projects with various Italian and leading international companies during their studies. Domus Academy’s master's course includes workshops, professional experience modules and techniques to handle company projects. Domus Academy also has a good placement record with 92% of its graduate students working in more than 250 companies after graduation. 

COVID- 19 Response 

Looking to ensure the safety and health of the students, staff and faculty members, Domus Academy has released an appropriate COVID-19 Response. Currently the academy has adapted its learning model to offer hybrid models of learning to ensure the standard of education is maintained, Domus Academy has released the following guidelines:

• Domus Academy is currently offering all educational and curricular activities through remote access. 

• As a response to the current crisis, Domus Academy has launched a collective project, called the ‘New Normal’ for lectures, workshops and final projects.

• The aim of the Domus Academy’s New Normal project is to encourage creativity and help students identify the areas of change needed post-crisis.

• There is no change in the Intake plans of Domus Academy for the upcoming sessions. Students can fill the online application form and upload the documents needed to apply to Domus Academy.
