What is GMAT Slot Booking 2023?

Similar to different standardised entrance tests, registering for GMAT 2023 is not the end of the line. In other words, if you are planning to appear for tests like GMAT, you will need to select the appropriate GMAT test centre and GMAT exam date and time, before you can attempt the test. This process of selecting the test centre, date and time is known as slot booking. However, students interested in appearing for the test this year are recommended to go through the eligibility criteria and application process for GMAT 2023.

As the popularity and demand for the test continue to grow around the world, securing a test date, time and test centre, appropriate to an aspiring GMAT test-taker, also continues to become harder. Therefore, it has become even more crucial to decide whether you need to take the test as soon as possible and book the appropriate test date as soon as possible.

What is the Difference between GMAT Slot Booking vs GMAT Registration?

There is a difference between registering for an exam and booking a slot for the same one. GMAT registration for an exam requires you to create an account for one year, but GMAT slot booking means you are scheduling the day, time, and test centre where you will take the exam. Every time you want to take the exam during that year, you must book a slot, which costs USD 275. The maximum number of attempts you can make in a year is 5, which means you can take the GMAT 5 times in a year, beginning with the date of enrollment.

In other words, you must register for the test once a year, but you must schedule the slot more than once if you want to take it more than once. Also, as of December 17, 2016, a candidate may not take the GMAT more than 8 times in his or her lifetime.

How to Book a Slot for GMAT?

Booking a slot for GMAT is one of the simplest steps, yet the most crucial steps that you need to complete in order to keep your study abroad journey on track. First things, make sure you have registered for the exam, following which you can book the appropriate slot. Here are the steps you need to complete to book a GMAT slot.

• Visit mba.com and enter your login details to your account for GMAT.

• Once logged in, you will be able to see the option to book a slot for a GMAT test, select the appropriate date, time and test centre that suits you the best.

• Pay the slot booking fee, i.e. USD 275, as confirmation.

When Should I Book a GMAT Slot?

While there is no perfect time to book a slot for GMAT 2023, a good rule of thumb is to schedule it according to the timeline you need to properly prepare for the test. It should be noted that there are limited slots available each day, which is why booking a slot as early as possible is the logical and safest option for aspirants.

Study abroad experts suggest that interested candidates should book their GMAT test slots 1 to 2 months in advance during off-seasons. However, if students are planning to attempt the test during peak seasons, i.e. time around November each year, it is advisable to book their respective slots 2 to 3 months ahead of time.

Nevertheless, one of the more important factors to consider when deciding the perfect date to attempt a GMAT test is a factor in the time it will take you to properly prepare for the test. Usually, it takes nearly 2-6 months to prepare for the test properly. Therefore, selecting dates anywhere between 2-6 months before the test should be ideal timing to book a GMAT slot.

A point to remember is that the moment you book the GMAT slot, whether it is 1 or 6 months away, candidates should ensure that they prepare a good study plan for GMAT, allowing them to be confident and well-prepared to tackle the task at hand.

How Many Times Can I Book a GMAT Slot?

According to official regulations, those interested in attempting GMAT, can do so 5 times throughout the year. While you are not required to register each of the five times in a year, you will be required to book your GMAT Slot. It should be noted that there needs to be a gap between two test attempts, i.e. a 16-day gap between two tests.

GMAT Online Test Slot Booking

For those wondering if it is required to book a slot for the GMAT Online test, as per official regulations, all applicants are required to book a slot. However, unlike the offline test, GMAT Online test applicants can book their respective slots 24 hours prior to the time of the test.

Similar to the offline test, applicants should log in to their account for GMAT and book a slot for the GMAT Online test as convenient.

GMAT Test Centers in India

The test is available in 17 cities across India. This test is administered all year and is available at all authorised testing sites. It is advised that you verify with the test centres for availability on your selected day and time to schedule your slot at your leisure. GMAT Slot Cancellation/Rescheduling Fee

If an applicant cancels the GMAT exam between 1 and 14 days before the test date, he will be charged USD 220 and will receive a refund of USD 55. If you cancel the exam between 15 and 60 days before the appointment date, you will be charged USD 195 and receive a USD 80 refund. If you cancel the GMAT slot more than 60 days before the appointment date, you will be charged USD 165 and receive a USD 110 refund.

Rescheduling the GMAT exam between 1 and 14 days before the test date, on the other hand, will cost you USD 165. If you reschedule the GMAT exam between 15 and 60 days before your appointment, you must pay USD 110. You must also pay USD 55 if you reschedule the exam more than 60 days before the test date.

Note: These are additional fees, on top of their slot booking fees, that aspirants are required to pay if they wish to cancel or reschedule their test appointments.
