Ontario College of Art & Design University (OCAD) University was founded in 1867 by the Ontario Society of Artists as the Ontario School of Art. In 1912 it was renamed Ontario College of Arts and became the first school in Canada to offer education of professional artists in fine and commercial art. In 1996, its name was changed to the Ontario College of Art and Design. Finally, in 2002, it received university status and was named OCAD University. OCAD University is one of the best Arts& Design Universities in the world. The QS World University Ranking- Arts & Design of OCAD University is 101-150.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The campus location of OCAD is commutable and well connected for easy transportation. Students have various opportunities and access to services on campus for social interaction, connection and personal growth. A wide range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate are offered at OCAD under the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Design and Faculty of Arts and Design. To ensure the well being and overall development of its students, OCAD arranges fitness & well-being programs and mentoring programs. Special clubs and student groups allow students to have a healthy international and experience the rich environment of diversity.

Accomplishments & Alumni

OCAD University has more than 19,000 alumni among which some are leading artists and designers. The alumni of OCAD work in various fields of creativity like advertising, interior designing and decoration, television commercials etc. The Alumni Association of OCAD is an independent group of alumni associations that connect to build partnerships and support each other. OCAD University offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate programs that engage in art and design research and creative practices. Over the years the university has trained students from around the world and have helped them evolve as successful artists and designers.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

OCAD University has around 4,423 students enrolled in undergraduate programs and 319 students in graduate programs every year. The percentage of international students enrolled at OCAD University is 21%. The career training program at OCAD supports students and alumni in internship opportunities and work placement through partnership and collaboration with employers. Some of the top recruiters at OCAD include Telus Digital, Gardiner Museum, Spin Master and Parks Canada. In the batch of 2018- 2019, 54 undergraduate students got an opportunity to work with 19 different employment partners for 21 weeks. 159 graduates got job opportunities with 43 partner organizations soon after the completion of their studies.
