The Twin Cities campus comprises locations in Minneapolis and St. Paul is approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) apart, and the St. Paul's location is in neighboring Falcon Heights. Furthermore, the campus is spread across a total of 2,730 acres of land and is divided into 3 areas, namely the Knoll area, Mall area, and the Health area. The University comprises 3 centers and 3 institutes namely, The Centre for Cognitive Sciences, The Centre for Law and Values in Health, Environment and Life Sciences and The Minnesota Population Centre. The 3 institutes are, The Institute for Environment, The Institute for Translational Neuroscience and The Institute for Advanced Study.
