Starting its journey as an educational institution, The University of Texas Dallas, commenced its operations as the Graduate Research Centre of the Southwest (GRCSW). The move was made after J. Erik Johnson, Eugene McDermott and Cecil Green saw Texa youth leave the state for higher education while they were forced to import talent from outside the state. Over the years, The University of Texas Dallas has been nationally and internationally recognised educational institution. Forbes recognised UTD as the Best Value Public University in Texas, meanwhile, US News and World Report recognises UTD’s MBA programme where the graduates earn more than they owe.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Spread over acres of land, the University of Texas Dallas has established state of the art infrastructure and facilities that allow students to access globally acclaimed student education experience. In this state-of-the-art infrastructure, The University of Texas Dallas offers 21 Nationally ranked graduate programmes, as recognised by the US News and World Report. All in all, UTD offers 142 degree-programmes under 8 schools, i.e. Arts and Humanities, Technology and Emerging Communication, Behavioural and Brain Sciences, Economic, Political and Policy Sciences, Engineering and Computer Science, Interdisciplinary Studies and Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The Chronicle of Higher Education also ranks the University as the Fastest Growing Public Doctoral University in the USA.

Apart from these, UTD has also witnessed 64% of its seniors graduating with no debt, while the university has been able to confer scholarships on merit and need-basis to 68% of its undergraduate students. COVID-19 Response

Understanding the need to continue providing top tier educational experience during these unprecedented times, the University of Texas Dallas has released an appropriate COVID-19 Response. The University will be offering hybrid models of learning while maintaining strict social distancing measures, ensuring that students, staff and faculty members are safe and healthy during the pandemic.

  • A hybrid model of learning has been adopted where students will be asked to attend in-person classes, which may also have either synchronous or asynchronous components.

  • Students will be divided into different groups where each group will attend in-person classes in rotation.

  • Classrooms and campus facilities will be heavily sanitised to ensure the protection of all students, staff and faculty members.

  • Classrooms and laboratories have also been modified to accommodate social distancing protocols.

  • All students, staff and faculty members are required to wear face coverings while on campus. The university will also provide face masks and coverings to all those visiting the campus.

Academic Excellence Scholarship

  • Candidates are automatically considered for the Academic Excellence Scholarship, however, additional documents boost their chances of being selected for the scholarship.
  • Documents such as official high school transcripts, SAT/ACT scores, etc will aid in the selection process.
  • Those selected will duly be notified by the University upon selection.

Eligibility:

  • All candidates applying must be first-time freshmen applying for the Fall semester.
  • Candidates may be required to provide additional documents such as a resume, letters of recommendation and other relevant documents supporting their academic prowess.

Amount: Variable

Jindal School Graduate Scholarship

  • Jindal school does not automatically consider applicants for the scholarship. Applicants are required to apply separately through the scholarship application portal of Jindal School to avail the scholarship opportunities.
  • Incoming Freshmen will be eligible to apply scholarships for the Spring and Fall semesters. Meanwhile, current students are eligible only for scholarships for the Fall semester.

Eligibility:

  • Current graduate students of Jindal School can apply for Dean’s Excellence, Impact and Donor scholarships.
  • Incoming freshmen can apply for Dean’s Excellence scholarship only.
  • Students are required to separately apply for scholarships.
  • Students applying to or enrolled in the Full-time MBA Cohort, MS in Accounting Cohort, MS in Finance Cohort, MS in Business Analytics Cohort, MS in Business Analytics Cohort Online, MS in Financial Technology and Analytics Cohort and all executive education degree programmes are not eligible for Dean’s Excellence, Impact or Donor scholarships.

Note: Each department at the University of Texas Dallas offers scholarships specific to their degree programmes. Therefore, you may be required to contact the university or the department to learn more about these scholarship opportunities.

Diversity Scholars Programme

  • The Diversity Scholars Programme is aimed at those students who display an excellent academic record in high school and are in significant need of financial support.
  • Students will receive a fixed amount in a year for the next 8 semesters in an undergraduate study.
  • Apart from financial assistance, the programme staff will also provide the students with academic support in a bid to successfully transition them to the University of Texas Dallas.

Eligibility:

  • All aspirants must be admitted to the University of Texas Dallas and should be enrolled in an undergraduate programme for the first time at UT Dallas, in the fall semester of the year of application.
  • Candidates should also display an excellent high school academic record.
  • Candidates will also be required to submit an essay on the topics mentioned in the application form.
  • A Letter of Recommendation from a counsellor, professor or teacher must also be submitted to the university while applying.
  • Candidates must have financial need as determined by a completed application form from TAFSA or FAFSA.

Amount: US$5,000 with additional assistance.
