Southwestern Law School is a private law school located in Mid-Wilshire, Los Angeles which was established in 1911. It is accredited by the American Bar Association. The school is the second oldest law school in Los Angeles. Founded more than 100 years ago, Southwestern has developed a reputation for graduating lawyers who are well-rounded, entrepreneurial, and prepared to succeed. This university ranked 146-192 among all the best law schools and number 42 in part-time law by the US News & World Report 2020 edition.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Southwestern Law School comprises of two campuses in Westmoreland Building and the Bullocks Wilshire Building. Westmoreland Building is a campus building and Bullocks Wilshire Building is an art deco landmark. Southwestern also established three- and four-year J.D./M.B.A. degree programs with the Drucker Graduate School of Management of Claremont Graduate University. B.A./J.D. 3+3 programs are offered in partnership with California State University, Northridge, and California State University, Dominguez Hills. Southwestern also offers L.L.M. programs in individualized law studies and entertainment and media law. Courses that are available in the university are J.D. & Concurrent Degree programs, LLM programs where General LLM program and LLM in Entertainment and Media Law program are imparted. 

Accomplishments & Alumni 

Southwestern was the first law school to establish a center for entertainment and media law. The internationally recognized Biederman Entertainment and Media Law Institute helps prepare students for the practice of law in creative industries such as film, television, and music. Over 10000 alumni here are public officials and founders of various law firms. Notable alumni include Tom Bradley, Marcia Clark, Matt Fong, Stanley Mosk, William John Cox, and Vicki Roberts.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

There is a huge diversity of students who come from different parts of the world to study law here. As per the recent survey conducted Southwestern Law university is the second-highest university for African- American students and Latino students. Top hirers include Baker McKenzie, DLA Piper, Norton Rose Fulbright, Hogan Lovells, Jones Day and Latham & Watkins.
