Southern Arkansas University is a public university established as an agricultural high school in Magnolia, Arkansas. Later on, it was developed into a 4-year degree offering institution. It was founded in 1909, however, it started offering postgraduate degrees in 1975. Therefore, it transited from just being a college into the university. It has accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. The University is ranked at #96 as Regional University in South, as per the US News and World Report 2020 Edition. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It also has program-specific accreditations including AACSB for business programs, CAEP for education, ACEN for Nursing, and various others.

The campus is spread over an area of 1418 acres. It has some of the most beautiful residential campuses. It boasts very well-maintained buildings with state-of-the-art classroom spaces, laboratories, administrative offices, recreational spaces, and athletic facilities.
