Drake University is a private university located in Des Moines, Iowa. The university was founded in 1881 by George T. Carpenter, a teacher and pastor, and Francis Marion Drake, a Union General during the Civil War. Drake was originally affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), although no religious affiliation is officially recognized today. Furthermore, Drake University's ranking in the US News and World Report 2020 edition of Best Colleges is National Universities is #130.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Drake University offers undergraduate and graduate programs, including professional programs in business, law, and pharmacy. Drake's law school is among the 25 oldest in the country. Besides, the institution offers over 70 majors and 20 graduate degrees across six colleges and schools: College of Arts and Sciences, Law School, School of Education, College of Business and Public Administration, School of Journalism and Mass Communication, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Drake is made up of six schools and colleges. Graduate programs include those in the School of Education, School of Law and the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Accomplishments & Alumni 

Drake University is recognized as a Best College in Midwest by the Princeton Review and is ranked among the top 10 mid-sized universities nationally by the Chronicle of Higher Education. The college’s notable alumni include Roxanne Conlin- lawyer and former US Attorney for Southern District of Iowa and Iowa Senate, Multiple Emmy Award-winning actors Michael Emerson and Jeremy Piven, Ira Levin - author of Rosemary’s Baby, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Clark R. Mollenhof and Former Chairman of McDonald’s Fred L. Turner.
