Pearson Test of English, often known as PTE Academic, is an English language test given to students who wish to study in countries where English is the predominant language. Candidates who are eligible for the PTE exam must take the exam to demonstrate their English proficiency.

The lowest score is 10 and the highest score is 90. Communicative skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) and enabling skills (grammar, oral fluency, pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, and written discourse) are scored separately between 10-90 points. A PTE score between 50-63 is considered competent.

What is a Good PTE Academic Cutoff?

There is no specific PTE Academic cutoff. Different universities and colleges set their own minimum PTE score requirement for admissions. So, instead of PTE cutoff, one must make sure to score at least the required PTE score or desired PTE score in the test based on the university or college one wants to take admission

The required PTE test score is decided by the university, college, or the concerned department. Top universities abroad accept an overall PTE score of more than 75. However, an average score of  65 and above is considered a good score for admission to most colleges abroad.
