Candidates can look for job opportunities in Ukraine as doctors, and MD (Doctor of Medicine) is the preferred degree to get a job. After completing the 6 years of medical programme from MBBS universities in Ukraine, candidates are awarded with the MD degree, which is equivalent to MBBS in India and is recognised by the Medical Council of India. Since the degrees are recognised by MCI, students can also look for job options in India after completing their coursework and qualifying the screening test.
After spending 6 years to study MBBS in Ukraine, the second largest country in Europe, one finds themself blended-in with its society and vibrant culture. Ukraine is known to be a land of open-minded and warm-hearted people. Hence, it is not really surprising that when one visits Ukraine as a student, one is tempted to extend their stay by finding work and gaining full-time employment in the country.
Students from all around the globe are attracted to study medicine in Ukraine and many even choose to settle down here because of:
Moreover, Ukraine is facing an acute shortage of medical professionals, in public as well as private health care sector. Medical professionals are high in demand and the country is working aggressively to ensure that the quality of medical education is good enough to meet it.
These are some of the reasons why many students opt to stay back and build their career in this country.
A medical practitioner in Ukraine can earn anywhere from 8,000 UAH (310 USD) to 20,000 UAH (775 USD) per month, depending on place of employment, experience, skill level etc., while the average cost of living can be around 5,000 UAH per month.
While knowing Ukrainian or multiple languages can prove to be favourable for getting a job in Ukraine, the number of English-speaking offices, catering to a global clientele, is also growing. In addition, there are plenty of new experiences in places and flavours for adventure-seekers. And if one has found work, the government even facilitates the paperwork required to get one’s family to move in with them.
Here’s Why Working in Ukraine After Studying Can be Beneficial for You.
One can find plenty of semi-skilled and unskilled part-time jobs in Ukraine. It is a great way to cover living expenses, while also giving a chance to earn valuable experience and meet new people. It is also a great orientation of the culture and lifestyle of the community living around you.
It is not legal to work on a temporary residency permit but the employer and one’s place of study can help get the necessary permits to start working part time. However, it is worth pointing out that since the tuition fees and cost of living is quite affordable and one can, with almost 100% certainty, hope to find a job after they get their degree, many MBBS students opt to give complete focus to their studies instead.
A temporary residence permit (which every international student usually has) is necessary to get a work permit in Ukraine after MBBS. While the labour laws are quite liberal towards foreign employees, it is important to note that only an employer can file for a work permit on behalf of their employees.
If a person intends to settle in Ukraine, it is advisable to get a permanent residency permit. PR holders do not need a work permit to be employed in Ukraine.
MBBS from Ukraine medical universities is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and graduates can easily find work in India after completing their MBBS degree from Ukraine. One only has to clear the NEET-PG exam, which is proposed to soon be replaced by a common entrance exam for medical aspirants in India — National Exit Test (NEXT).
Many international organisations such as WHO, FAIMER, GMC, etc. have given recognition to Ukranian MD degrees, which is why doctors who have graduated from Ukraine can be found all around the globe. Many Ukrainians, however, prefer to move close to their homeland — to countries such as Russia, Lithuania and Poland.
