Swinburne University of Technology is an internationally-recognized public university based in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 1908 as the ‘Eastern Suburbs Technical College’, Swinburne gained its university status only in 1992. The university delivers academic excellence guided by their Educational Quality Excellence Framework and maintains high standards of academic quality in accordance with regulatory requirements of TEQSA, AQSA, VRQA and Victoria. Overall, the university is ranked among the world’s top 400 universities in the QS World University 2021, placing it in the top 3% globally. It is also featured in the QS Rankings among world’s top universities in 14 subject areas. In addition, Swinburne has been ranked #62 in the THE Young University Rankings for 2020.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
Swinburne has a total of three campuses in Melbourne located at Hawthorn, Wantirna and Croydon, with its fourth campus in Sarawak, Malaysia. In 2019, it launched new campuses in Vietnam and Sydney along with an office in Nanjing, China, establishing its presence all around the world. The dual-sector university offers higher education and Pathways and Vocational Education (PAVE) in a broad range of disciplines including astronomy, materials science, computer science and information technology, physics, engineering, design and innovation, health sciences, and many more. Covid-19 Response
At Swinburne, a dedicated Covid-19 Taskforce was set up right after the pandemic started, which continues to monitor and manage the situation. The university is in regular contact with its students and staff to share their response to the global pandemic. Here are the latest updates as of April 2021:
International students outside Australia will start their semester 1 classes fully online until travel restrictions are lifted. For those who are currently in Australia, they may attend either fully online or blended classes.
Those who do not have Year 12 exam results, they may defer their offer to the next available intake.
Australia's higher education regulator has temporarily relaxed the student visa requirements so that they can study as much of their course as necessary online.
In case an international student decides that online learning is not for them, they can withdraw from the course before the relevant census date(s) and apply for a full refund or defer their offer to the next available intake.
2021 exams will be replaced by alternative assessment arrangements.
Visa extensions will not be automatic and students will have to apply for a new student visa to be able to continue their course at Swinburne.

This scholarship was introduced to let offshore international students who are not able to travel to Australia due to Covid-19 travel restrictions commence or continue their studies. Such students will be automatically considered for the program which was set up in collaboration with LinkedIn.
Eligibility:
Only those who fulfil the following criteria can apply for the scholarship:
Must be an international student.
Must be an offshore international student continuing an undergraduate or postgraduate course at Swinburne between June 2020 and December 2021, OR
Must be an offshore international student applying outside of New Zealand or Australia for an undergraduate or postgraduate course at Swinburne between June 2020 and December 2021.
Must commence or continue their course online from their home country with the intention of returning to Australia when the situation gets better.
Is not able to travel to Australia due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

Must have achieved an academic result of 90% GPA Australian standard equivalent or above.

Must be applying for any master degree programme by coursework.
Must be an international student who is not currently enrolled in a two-year master by coursework program at Swinburne.
Should not be holding another Swinburne scholarship.
Must have obtained an academic result of at least 60% GPA Australian standard equivalent.
Value:
10% - 75% off course fees every year for up to two years.
A$2500 towards the program plus A$1000 for the first year and A$1500 for the second year, in case applying for the Master of Science Network Systems program.
The scholarship offers a discount of up to a total of A$38,000 or A$21,000.

Must be an international student.
Must have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Swinburne.
Should not be holding another Swinburne scholarship.
Must be applying for undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Swinburne except Bachelor of Aviation and Piloting/Bachelor of Business double degree or Bachelor of Aviation and Piloting.
Must apply to Swinburne directly and not through an agent.
Must apply to the Hawthorn campus in Melbourne.
Value:
For postgraduate applicants: 10% - 25% off course fees every year for up to 2 years, up to a total of A$21,000 for the duration of the degree.
For undergraduate applicants: 10% - 25% off course fees every year for up to 4 years, up to a total of A$38,000 for the duration of the degree.
For Master of Science (Network Systems) applicants: 2500 for the entire course.
International students applying for research at Swinburne may also find scholarship opportunities offered by various departments.
