University of the Pacific (UoP) is a private institution for higher education established in 1851.The university has a history of firsts with it being Californias first music conservatory, chartered university and the first to admit women. It is also the United States first university to guarantee a four-year graduation. Popular as the oldest university in California, UoP ranks 53rd on the US News list of Best Value School and is one of the best-recommended places for those who are looking for a value-driven educational experience. Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
Seven schools and colleges are part of the University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Education, School of Engineering and Computer Science, School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, School of International Studies and Conservatory of Music and more than 80 degree-programmes can be pursued. Pacific is especially known as one of the best places for engineering studies in the USA and is also the place of education for a number of renowned professionals in the industry. Accomplishments & Alumni
The alumni community of the University of the Pacific includes more than 70,000 former students. They are represented by the Pacific Alumni association comprising eight staff members and a 30-member alumni board of directors. With a history of more than 140 years after the founding of the association, the university celebrates its amazing alumni every year with the Distinguished Alumni Awards. Pacific alumni are known for their achievements in a wide range of fields including sports, academia, business, government and politics, science and engineering, entertainment, and more. Popular names associated with the university include Arthur A. Dugoni, Bob Bejan, Alan Autry, Steven Kistler, Bob Adams, and many more.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
University of the Pacific welcomes international students from all over the world. It has a special unit to support and guide students who come from other countries. The unit not only ensures an easier campus for international students but also strives to help them achieve the best academic experience. In 2019, 91% of Pacifics graduates that responded are currently employed or in graduate school. Through Handshake, the university offers a variety of services including reviewing resumes, mock interviews, job and internship search strategies, graduate school planning, CO-OP and on-campus opportunities.
COVID-19 Response
The University of the Pacific has been closely monitoring and mitigating the impact of the novel Coronavirus on the campus community. A range of student health services have been introduced ranging from primary care to counselling services in order to ensure that all students are taken care of during this unprecedented time.
Pacific has planned to deliver instruction through remote learning in fall semester.
With a new schedule, Pacfic has organised more than 200 weekly signature events on different relevant issues in the Fall semester 2020.
Support services such as health, career, academic, library and technology services will be available remotely.
On-campus tours have been paused for now. Individuals can take a virtual tour for a look at the campus and living spaces.
Students are also provided with Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) that include informal consultations, group therapy, online assisted therapy and more.

Areas that are being focused on to ensure safety of students returning to campus include Covid-19 infection mitigation, case management of suspected or confirmed cases, protection of students and employees at higher risk, public health communications and enforcement.

The University of the Pacific offers a number of International Student Merit Scholarships to students enrolled in the first year as freshmen or to transfer students. It is offered to students who have completed their high school from an institute outside the United States.
All international applicants who apply for admissions at the University of the Pacific are automatically considered for these scholarships.
The shortlisted candidates are notified in case they are selected for the scholarship.
Value: $15,000 per year
Powell Scholars Programme offers a Merit-based scholarship to talented freshmen applicants. Apart from the rewards, the scholarship offers access to excellent research opportunities, study abroad programmes and nationally-recognized speakers visiting Pacific.
A total of 10 scholarships are awarded under this category annually by the university to receive the Powell Scholarship the applicant must fill in a separate application and once shortlisted attend the interview.

Eligibility:
Candidates must have:
High school CGPA of 3.7 or higher. A GPA of 3.3 must be maintained for the scholarship to be eligible for renewal.
Undertaken an Honors, AP and/or IB curriculum.
A minimum score of 1350 on the Combined SAT Critical Reading and Math or at least 30 on ACT Composite test.
Shown outstanding leadership skills in two or more areas related to student government, community service, cultural groups, creative activities, research etc.

Value: Each Powell Scholar receives up to $5,000 for research projects and up to $2,500 for international travel.
Athletic scholarships are awarded to eligible international students.
The scholarship is offered to outstanding athletes who wish to play for one of our 17 NCAA Division I intercollegiate teams.
Not all athletes receive the award and it may be combined with other forms of scholarships like merit scholarships, grants and loans.
Financial aid for international postgraduate students at the University of the Pacific is only available in the form of Graduate Assistantships. The aid is offered by the department offering the course. The availability and eligibility requirements of these assistantships depend on the requirements of specific departments or colleges.
