One of the oldest universities in the USA, the University of Pennsylvania opened its doors in 1749 with Benjamin Franklin as the President of the institution but its roots go as far back as 1740. A private Ivy League university located in Philadelphia, it is considered to be one of the best higher education institutions in the USA as well as the world. Also known as Penn, it has the 15th rank on the QS World University Rankings list 2020. The University of Pennsylvania is affiliated with the Association of American Universities, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and the Universities Research Association. The US News and World Report ranks Penn University as the 8th best National University, while the university ranks 13th in THE World University Rankings.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The University of Pennsylvania has a 302-acre campus located in West Philadelphia and with the university boasting an over 250-year history, it is home to historic and beautiful architecture right alongside some of the most modern buildings and facilities. The campus has more than 200 buildings, including 165 research centres and institutes, and is known as the University City. There are a total of 12 schools on campus offering bachelors, masters and research degrees in engineering, arts & sciences, communication, design, nursing, medicine, law, management etc. The campus of Penn University is well-equipped with all the amenities and facilities that a budding student needs for learning and leisure.

Accomplishments & Alumni

Founded by one of the most iconic innovators of the 18th century, the University of Pennsylvania has innovation and research at its core. It is the place of establishment for the worlds first collegiate business school and was also the place of birth of the worlds first electronic, large-scale, general-purpose digital computer ENIAC. With a research budget of over $1 billion, the university is on the frontline of innovation and research in the USA. Many of Penns graduates are well-known for their accomplishments with some of the notable alumni including Elon Musk, Naom Chomsky, Sunder Pichai etc.

Every year, the University of Pennsylvania accepts around 10,000 students to its bachelors programmes and another 10,000 to its masters and research programmes. With such a large number of students enrolled in its programmes from all around the world, the university boasts a diversity of all kinds on campus.
