Troy University is a public university. It was founded in the year 1887 with the name Troy State Normal School within the Alabama State University System. It has got regional accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS) and awards Bachelor's, Masters and Doctoral degrees. In August 2005, all four campuses of Troy University, Troy State University, Montgomery; Troy State University, Phoenix City; Troy State University, Dothan; and Troy State University (Main Campus), came under one accreditation to reflect the global mission of Troy University.

The University is ranked as #65 Best Colleges in Regional Universities South according to US News and World Report 2020.

Infrastructure, Campus, and Courses

The main campus of the university is near downtown Troy. Troy university started with its two main buildings named Bibb Graves and Shackelford Hall. Both of these buildings still adorn the Troy campus. Another popular feature of the campus is Janice Hawkins Park that has an amphitheater, walking trails, a lagoon, and various attractive art installations. The University also provides a Golf Practice course, called The Trojan Oaks Golf Practice.

Troy University collectively offers 46 undergraduate programs, 22 master degree programs, and 3 doctoral programs. Popular courses include Business Administration and Management, Psychology, Criminal Justice/Safety Studies; Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse; and Computer and Information Sciences.

Accomplishments and Alumni

Troy university has earned the 640th ranking in the world university ranking system by Forbes. Troy university has 100,000 plus alumni who are working across the world in various sectors. Notable alumni include Astronaut Kevin Richard Kregel, NFL player DeMarcus Omar Ware, and economist Manuel Holman Johnson Jr.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

With an undergraduate enrolment of more than 13000 students, the university maintains an average student-faculty ratio of 18:1. About 810 international students representing at least 40 countries also pursue their academics at the university. The majority of international students belong to China, India, and Nepal. Top organizations where Troy alumni work includes Aflac, Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen Hamilton, AT&T, Regions Bank, SAIC, Synovus, Amazon, and Microsoft.
