Starting its life in 1923, Lamar University Beaumont was first known as South Park Junior College with 125 students enrolled during its first fall semester. Now, nearly a century later, Lamar University has become home to over 15,000 students offering more than 139 degree-programmes across various fields. With over 15,000 students calling Lamar University their home, it is also one of the fastest growing universities in Texas. As a member of the Texas State University System, Lamar University maintains a low average tuition and fees of any university system in the state.
