Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), located in Southwest Florida between the Florida Everglades and the Gulf of Mexico was established on May 3, 1991. FGCU is approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and is acknowledged to confer 58 different types of an undergraduate degree, 25 different master's, six doctoral degrees, and twelve graduate certificates Additionally, all of the university's undergraduate engineering degrees are certified by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). According to the US News and World Report, Florida Gulf Coast University's ranking in the 2020 edition of Best Colleges is Regional Universities South, #69.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The university is established in a 760-acre (3.1 km2) campus. FGCU’s academics are subdivided into six main colleges: U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering, Marieb College of Health & Human Services, Lutgert College of Business, College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, plus Honors College. The pre-eminent schools and units inside the colleges comprise; Bower School of Music & the Arts, The Emergent Technologies Institute (ETI), School of Nursing, and School of Resort & Hospitality Management. The most popular majors at Florida Gulf Coast University include Business Administration and Management, General; Speech Communication and Rhetoric; Criminal Justice/Safety Studies; Psychology, General; and Resort Management.
