A signatory in the Bologna Process, Portugal offers numerous opportunities for international students to pursue higher education in the country and even transfer the credits afterwards. Portugal consists of two major types of universities, viz. Traditional universities and Polytechnics, that offer a more skill-based and career-oriented education to students. However, in both these universities, students also find an overlap of courses and programmes that in disciplines such as Management, Arts and Humanities, Sports, Engineering, Sciences, etc. Therefore, if you wish to pursue a non-technical programme in the country, choose the traditional universities, while on the other hand, choosing polytechnic universities will be the best bet for those aspiring for more technical, skill-based and career-oriented education.
Studying in Portugal will also levy a much lower cost of living on you when compared to other European countries. However, while living and accommodation costs are low, tuition fees may not be cheap, especially if you choose to study in private universities. Nonetheless, international students will be able to avail scholarships and the same shall be awarded to them based on their academic performances.
