One of the ancient countries of the world, ‘Greece’ is located in Southeast Europe and shares its borders with Macedonia and Bulgaria to the north, Albania to the northwest and Turkey to the northeast. Greece is known for its ancient history, traditions, language and wonderful people. Around 40% of the total population of Greece reside in its capital city ‘Athens’. 

Greece is considered to be the world’s first democracy and its official language ‘Greek’ is known to be one of the oldest languages of civilisation. It is also one of the sunniest countries in the world and attracts most of the foreign travellers in summers. Greek is also known for some of the greatest philosophers the world has ever seen. Plato, Aristotle and Socrates belong to the ancient Greek world.

International students are fascinated by the quality of life, affordable higher education and excellent climatic conditions of Greece and hence there has been a steady rise in the number of students considering Greece as an excellent destination for higher education. Low cost of study and high chances for students to get a resident permit for work attracts Indian students in Greece. In fact, Indian students are also considered for the International Students Exchange Programme with the partner universities of Greece. 

In 2020, three students of IIM-Bodh Gaya got selected to study management courses from a Greece-based business school under the International Student Exchange Programme (SEP). Apart from India, five students from Italy and one from Nepal have been enrolled under SEP Greece. 

Higher education to international students is only offered in the state universities of Greece. National Technical University of Athens, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, University of Patras, Athens University of Economics and Business, University of Crete are the top universities of Greece that are also ranked among the best 1000 universities of the World. Business and Economics, Bartender course, Hospitality and Tourism, Management, Engineering, Science and technology are some of the popular courses opted by international students in Greece. 

Studying and working in Greece is always an exciting and daunting experience for foreigners. Those who wish to stay in Greece can also apply for jobs in various job roles. Some of the popular job roles opted by a person from foreign nation include jobs in the tourism industry, language teacher jobs, hospitality and hotel management jobs. One can also apply for jobs at the embassy.
