Founded in 1868, the Technical University of Munich has been producing a number of Nobel Prize winners. In over 150 years of its existence, TUM has been at the forefront of innovation. Considered as one of the top universities in Europe, the Technical University of Munich is committed to excellence in interdisciplinary education, teaching, research and in the active promotion of promising young students in the field of Science. Coming to the worldwide status of the University, TUM has maintained its ranking in a lot of categories. Starting with the QS World Ranking 2019, Technical University of Munich is placed at the 61st position. The University was also ranked among the top 25 universities across the world in the field of Engineering and Natural Sciences. According to the German business weekly "WirtschaftsWoche", TMU is the strongest German university in Business Sciences.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The Technical University of Munich offers 173 programmes that are administered by 15 departments. The university has 6 Integrative Research Centers and 7 Corporate Research Centers and 114 buildings comprising its huge and beautiful campus. Four large sites in Straubing, Weihenstephan, Garching and Bavaria (Munich) complete the Technical University of Munich. In 2002, TMU became the first German University to have an abroad campus at Singapore which led to the establishment of several other campuses at various other continents. At present, the university is imparting knowledge to about 41, 375 students out of which, 35% are females. These students are taught by 566 professors out of which 6 are Humboldt Professors. These professors have been awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship which is the most prestigious international prize for research in Germany. 

Accomplishments & Alumni

TUM (Technical University of Munich) has 7,422 publications, 6,000 cooperation agreements and 71 patents to its name. 17 students of the university have received the prestigious Nobel Prize. The Technical University of Munich alumni list is filled with the name of those people who, through sheer hard work and determination, have etched their names with gold at the global level. Nobel Prize winners like Gerhard Ertl, Rudolph Mossbauer, the father of Diesel engine Rudolph Diesel, Nazi Minister of Armaments and War Production Albert Speer etc have once walked through the corridors of the Technical University Munich.
