History, Affiliations & Rankings

Four local institutions had come together in 1965 to form what is presently known as the Vancouver Community College.  The four institutions Vancouver Vocational Institute, the Vancouver School Board's Night School Program, the Vancouver School of Art, and the King Edward Senior Matriculation and Continuing Education Center merged together and were initially called the Vancouver City College. In 1974, after separation from the Vancouver School Board, Vancouver City College came to be known as Vancouver Community College.

According to Ranking Web, Vancouver Community College is ranked at #112 in Canada and at #6544 worldwide. Vancouver Community College is one of the government-accredited colleges in British Columbia.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Vancouver Community College comprises three campuses located at Hamilton, East Broadway, and a VCC/BCIT campus. The East Broadway campus is seven-storied, covering an area of 12,400- square metres. Vancouver Community College has around 36 learning and community outreach centers other than these three campuses.

With a yearly budget of $105 million, Vancouver Community College is a major college offering postsecondary educational courses in the British Columbia area.

VCC has part-time and full-time programs as well. Some of the popular programs that are offered at Vancouver are Academic Upgrading, Music and Dance, Design, Hospitality, University Transfer, Business, Health Sciences, and many others.  

Accomplishments & Alumni

Among its many other partnerships, VCC has partnered with the British Columbia Government Employees Union (BCGEU), to offer a communication program for its members. "Entry to Hospitality Careers for Women." is a program for Refugee and Immigrant Women offered by the partnership of VCC the Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS). The institution has also partnered with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia to deliver a Fire Protection Technician course for immigrant engineers.
Notable alumni of Vancouver Community College include Canadian chef Anthony Sedlak, Canadian novelist Keith Maillard, Canadian author Iain Lawrence, Swiss singer Rykka, Canadian singer and songwriter Veda Hille, poet Haruko Okano, politician Steve Fortin, Jennifer Scott, Canadian composer Marc Baril, and many more.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

In the 2018-19 session, 15,480 students enrolled for various programs at VCC. There are 23000 students and out of which 600 are international students. The gender ratio at the institution is positive with 36% male and 63% women students. VCC is also home international students from 150 countries.

Companies visiting for recruitment and internships are: UNESCO-DBT Regional Centre, Bansito Foods and Hospitality Pvt. Ltd, Mecury Capital Group of Companies, Vancouver Lookout, Santa Maria Biotechnologies and many more.
