Lehman College is the oldest and renowned college of the City University of New York in the Bronx district of New York City. As the college initially originated as the Bronx campus of Hunter College in 1931, the school developed an independent college within CUNY in September 1967. The college is termed after Herbert H. Lehman, a former New York governor, U.S.senator, philanthropist, and the son of Lehman Brothers co-founder. The campus was the foremost national exercise ground for women in the military. Lehman College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Degree programs are registered by the New York State Education Department. Some degree programs are also accredited by professional associations. CUNY—Lehman College's ranking in the 2020 edition of Best Colleges is Regional Universities North, #100.

It is a public, inclusive, coeducational liberal arts college with additional than 90 undergraduate and graduate degree programs and specialisms. The Lehman College Center for the Performing Arts is a specialized theatre that seats 2,310. The campus houses the Lehman College Art Gallery.

Lehman College proposes a variety of selective and illustrious undergraduate and graduate programs in the Schools of Arts & Humanities, School of Education, School of Natural and Social Sciences, School of Health Sciences, Human Services, and Nursing, and School of Continuing Education. Popular Majors include Business, Sociology, and Hospital Management. Graduating 46% of students.
 
Accomplishments & Alumni
 
The College contributed to the United Nations’ 50th-anniversary activities in 1995–96. Also allied to Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). With leadership skills in faculty, students also participate annually in the national professional challenges. The teams have also won the Deloitte Case Study Challenge, the College Fed Challenge - Maiden Lane Division and the SHRM Merit Awards. 

The notable Alumni are: Debo Adegebile, John Fox, Don Leicht, Janet Kaplan, Micki Grant and many more.

Students at Lehman College are from various ethnic and racial characteristics with several language backgrounds, various social classes, and varied sexual orientations with many international students. Lehman College has a gender ratio of 68% of women students to 32% of men students. There are over 50 student clubs, with Greek life. Many companies visiting are organizations like BigFour and other, smaller accounting firms, Bank of America, JP Morgan, NYC Dept. of Finance, FDIC, the Office of the Controller of Currency, and the Federal Reserve who hire students from the university.
