History
Arkansas Tech University is a public university that was established as Second District Agricultural School. Initially offering classes leading to high school degrees, Second District Agricultural School became Arkansas Polytechnic College in 1925. It was not until 1976 that the school took its current name as Arkansas Tech University. The university is ranked at 30th position among the top public schools in the USA by the US News and World Report 2020.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
Catering an undergraduate enrollment of 11,151, the university campus has had a rural setting with a size of 559 acres. Since 1995, Arkansas Tech University has made $180 million to improve infrastructure, and the university has added 40 academic study programs. Located across the Arkansas River Valley, the university has three campuses, Arkansas Tech Career Center, Russellville campus, and Ozark campus. The tech university has a variety of courses including certificate courses, Associate degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, Graduate degrees, and Online degrees.
Popular courses include Business Administration. Criminal Justice, Cybersecurity. Early Childhood Education, General Education. Information Technology, and Nuclear Technology.

The Arkansas Tech University, or ATU, holds 75th rank in the 2020 edition of the best colleges in regional universities South. With a vision statement promoting education to ensure innovation and to flourish communities, the university has been ranked first for Arkansans studying STEM courses. This university is the third-largest in Arkansas and maintains a student to faculty ratio at 18:1. The College Choice ranked university’s Masters of Arts in English Degree at seventh in the nation.
The university has variously known alumni ranging most of whom are politicians, such as Denny Altes, Leon L. “Doc” Bryan, and Stephen Allen Womack.
