Established in 1966, Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology is a non-profit institution for higher education in Ontario's Hamilton port city. The institution is affiliated with the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and Association of Community Colleges of Canada (ACCC). Accredited with the Universities Canada (AUCC) and the Ministry of Training, the college holds sports affiliation from the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA). It is ranked 89 in the country and 6150 in the world.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The college conducts study programmes at four locations across Hamilton, including Stoney Creek Campus, Fennell Campus (Hamilton Mountain), the Institute for Applied Health Sciences (McMaster University) and City School (Eva Rothwell Centre). Mohawk College has five faculties offering programmes in business, health sciences, communication, media, entertainment, community service, engineering and technology, preparatory and urban studies. It offers about 1,000 continuing education courses, 163 full-time programs, 30 graduate and professional courses, 33 part-time programs and various apprenticeship programs to students. The most sought after courses at the college are Business, Biotechnology, Music, Media, Computer Science and Engineering.
Accomplishments & Alumni
It operates a digital student newspaper named ignitenews.ca and a radio station called 101.5 The Hawk. Also, the college is collaborating on piloting new technological solutions - in partnership with IDEAWORKS, Mohawk College Applied Research. Mohawk College has over 120,000 alumni across the globe, including distinguished names like Dominic Agostino (Politician), Annette Hamm (Canadian Reporter and News Anchor), Jillian Barberie (Actress, TV and Radio Host), Brad Clark (Politician), Master T (MuchMusic's Former VJ, TV and Radio Personality), Alex Pierson (Canadian Broadcaster) and Joey Muha (YouTube Content Creator and Professional Drummer).
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
Mohawk College is a vast community of diversity with over 40,000 students and about 1,100 faculty members from more than 80 countries. The Alumni Association offers various awards and benefits to its alumni. It also organises many events to recognise the achievements of alumni and help them connect with the college's current students. Companies visiting for recruitment and internships are Santhi Medical Information Center, Little Caesars Pizza, GDKN Corporation and many more.
