How to book a slot for the ACT?

ACT registration and slot booking can be carried out in both online and offline processes. Usually, the online method is always preferred by most of the applicants. ACT registration deadlines generally fall five weeks before the test date.

ACT Online Registration

• Arrange important academic documents, digital headshots, identification proof, contact details, and other necessary documents mentioned on the official site of ACT.

• Access ACT's official website from your computer/laptop (it is advisable to avoid booking slots through mobile phones or tablets).

• Create an account on the ACT official website.

• Complete the profile selection by providing details like academic records and contact details.

• Select your ACT date from ACT exam dates and the option (with or without writing)

• Shortlist up to 4 colleges to deliver your ACT scores directly from the site, once the scorecards are released (an extra fee is charged if you want to send scores to more than 4 universities)

• Select your desired ACT centre.

• Confirm the ACT exam fees.

• Lastly, upload your photograph.

ACT Offline Registration

• Request for a mail packet at your school or from the website.

• Fill in the details like contact, academic information, and identification proof, and also choose the ACT centre and date.

• Mail the ACT registration form. The delivery usually takes nearly seven to ten days.

When Should I Book an ACT Slot?

There is no particular time said to be perfect to book a slot for the ACT, it is always advisable to schedule it as early as possible. Once you have decided that you will attempt the test for higher studies, it is easier to schedule the dates by your university application deadlines. It should be noted that there are limited slots available each day, which is why booking a slot as early as possible is the logical and safest option for all applicants.

According to the study abroad consultants and other career planning advisors it is suggested to register for the exam two to three months before your choice of date for exam appearance. It is safer to stick to early registration as the candidates will have a set schedule to prepare for the exam accordingly.

How Many Times Can I Book an ACT Slot?

One can take the ACT up to 12 times and results are valid for 5 years from the date of the exam. February, April, June, July, August, September, and October are the seven months that the ACT is given. Many candidates take multiple attempts, up to two to three times if they are not satisfied with the final score. Even the study abroad advisors and other consultants and many students end up taking the test between 2-3 times before applying to college. Most colleges are neutral about multiple scores. Many students, in fact, make score improvements by retaking the ACT. 

Slot Cancellation/Rescheduling Fee

If there is a need to change your ACT exam schedules or cancel the exam, candidates will not receive a refund. Therefore, rescheduling is a better option than cancellation. If the cancellation is done by the official body then the update will be delivered to the candidates. For cancellation, students need to contact ACT Student Services for deciding on the next slot.

Students will be able to choose their preferred ACT exam dates and locations as a result of this. If applicants do not apply by the last act test registration date, they will be charged a late fee.
