DePaul University, present in Illinois, Chicago, is a Roman Catholic private university that was founded in 1898 and is the largest catholic university in the nation. DePaul University has been institutionally accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and specialized accredited by American Bar Association, American Chemical Society, American Psychological Association, and Council on Education for Public Health. DePaul University Admission Process

The admission process for DePaul University is quite straightforward. Students who are interested in studying any coursework at DePaul University are required to follow a few simple steps and ensure their application is completed.

DePaul University Scholarships

In order to support its students and ensure no student is barred from education due to lack of funds, DePaul University offers various scholarships to domestic as well as international students across different fields of study. Some of the most prestigious and impactful scholarships provided by the DePaul University are discussed below:

Fund for Education Abroad:

DePaul University offers scholarships and grants to its international students to help them study without financial barriers. It does not only offer need-based scholarships but also talent-based and academic scholarships to appreciate their work and motivate them to do better. 

Scholarship Amount: USD  1,250 to USD  10,000

Application Deadline: Late January of the prior academic year

Eligibility:

  • The scholarship is awarded to candidates with financial needs. 

  • Preference is given to underrated and minority students.

Incoming Freshman Scholarship

State Scholar Plus Scholarship

This scholarship has been introduced for admitted fall freshmen with merit award packages worth USD  100,000 (over four years).

Eligibility: 

Those who fulfill the following eligibility criteria can apply for the State Scholar Plus Scholarship at DePaul University:

  • Must have earned a GPA of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale. 

  • Must have ranked in the top 10% of the graduating class. If not, the applicant should have obtained an SAT score of 1300 or an ACT score of 28 or higher. 

Deadline: November 15th

Value: USD  100,000 (over four years)

Academic Scholarships and DePaul Grants

DePaul gives away over 44 million in scholarships to incoming freshman students every year, and over USD  11 million in need-based financial aid on an annual basis.

DePaul Freshman Scholarships

No separate application is required for this. 

Eligibility: 

Those who fulfill the following eligibility criteria can apply for the DePaul Freshman Scholarships at DePaul University:

  • Should not be admitted to the School of Music or The Theatre School.

  • Should have a good academic record.

Deadline: November 15

Value: USD  15,000 to USD  24,000

Note: These may be renewed for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study if the student maintains good academic standing. They must be enrolled full-time and complete at least 36 quarter hours for the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters.

Donor-Funded Scholarships

Donor-funded scholarships at DePaul university are for students who are admitted as part of the Early Action Program. These scholarships provide students with additional financial aid for their education. 

Different scholarships under this category will have different criteria. Awards may range from USD  5,000 to full tuition, which can be renewed for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study if one meets the requirements of a given scholarship.

  • Arthur J. Schmitt Leaders Scholarship

  • ComEd Scholars Program Scholarship

  • The Engage and Persist in STEM (EPISTEM) Scholarship, etc.

DePaul University Placements

DePaul University offers various kinds of support to its international students for placement after programme completion. Depending on the level of the student's program of study, they may have the opportunity to take on additional projects and work. These programs can help develop their skills and knowledge in a particular field. Usually, these projects and work can be related to their studies. Through the Industry Placement Program, students can take on work for a leading firm while completing their degree.

  • The IPP offers placements with international firms in the US and China. It also comes with a standard unit of study fee.

  • During students’ local placement, they get the chance to work at least 3 days a week for 10 weeks.

  • The program can count towards students’ undergraduate degrees or postgraduate degrees.

  • Before students can join the program, they need to secure an industry placement. This is not a guarantee that a placement will be available.

  • There are a limited number of scholarships and bursaries that can be applied for by individuals wanting to participate in Industry Placement Programs. 

  • The Dalyell Global Mobility scholarship is available to international students. All of their placements are required to meet the Fair Work Act.

  • As of 2020, more than 195,000 living alumni in the world are there from DePaul University. 

  • Many of the university's alumni have made significant contributions to the music industry. Some of these include Roy Orbison, Tom "Bones" Malone, and Blue Lou Marini.

  • World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame members Kevin and David Von Erich, as well as Stone Cold Steve Austin, were student-athletes at the university.

  • Other public service members who are alumni of the university include Michael C. Burgess, the congressman 26th district; Adel al-Jubeir, the Saudi Arabian minister of foreign affairs; and Ray Roberts, a former US congressman.

DePaul University Accommodation

Those who meet the below requirements should stay in residence halls as long as space is available. DePaul University requires that all undergraduate students stay in residence halls as long as space is available.

  • Located close to Avenue C and Chestnut Street, Bruce Hall is the most central residence hall on the campus. It was constructed in 1946 and is the oldest residence hall on campus. It features a history that includes several famous former residents, such as Norah Jones.

  • Clark is a freshman residence hall that offers double rooms and triple spaces. It is the home of the engineering living learning community.

  • Crumley hall is a residence hall located on Avenue C and Highland Street. It will primarily serve as a housing facility for the Latin Dreams cohort from 2022 to 2023.

  • Crumley is a small residential hall that features a close-knit community. It’s located near the Willis Library and Onstead Promenade.
