Northern Lights College (NLC) Canada was founded in 1975 in British Columbia as a vocational school called Dawson Creek serving the Peace River Region. Initially, the curriculum was Pre-apprenticeship and pre-employment. Later the same year the college got its name. The institution is affiliated to BCC and ACCC. NLC has been jointly working with the University of Northern British Columbia. NLC has been #134 in Canada and has a world ranking of #8858 by Webometrics.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The Northern Lights College has five campuses at Atlin, Chetwynd Campus, Dawson Creek, Dease Lake, Fort St. John, and Fort Nelson. The three famous centres at the college are centres of excellence Aerospace, Clean Energy Technology, and Oil and Gas. NLC also includes gathering spaces at some of its campuses. The college has around 65 courses to offer like Business management, Workforce training, Applied business Technology, Teacher Training, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Academic and University Sciences, Clean Energy Technology like Wind turbine maintenance, Childhood Education, Oil and Gas Training.
Achievements & Alumni
There are many awards and scholarships awarded to the students from this college and other organizations. NLC has an award catalogue to help prospective students, current students, and graduates to acknowledge their success. NLC has a foundation that helps the college financially and later those funds are used for giving awards to the students. There are many famous alumni who have passed out from this college.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
Approximately 1800 students choose NLC as their alma mater each year. There are some 500 international students from 15 nationalities. Northern Lights College supports the health and healthy lifestyle and well-being of its students to create a healthy and safe learning environment. The Northern Lights College Students’ Association (NLCSA) provides social, cultural, and recreational events for students. The NLCSA strives to have student representation from each campus through Local Campus Student Councils that govern student activities on each campus. The college also offers small size classes which enables them to have more personalized classes. There were some 18 companies and non-profit organizations who visit in Discover Careers which is a job and networking opportunity for students and community members held at the college campus
