College of the Rockies was founded in 1975 as East Kootenay Community College in Cranbrook to offer vocational, technical and academic courses. Later in 1995, the college was renamed as ‘College of the Rockies’. The Rockies has been ranked as the number one college in Canada for international students and overall average student satisfaction. As per the International Graduate Insight Group Ranking which is based on feedback from international students from 183 post-secondary institutions in 18 countries worldwide, the College of the Rockies ranks number one under four benchmarks, i.e. arrival experience, learning, living and support.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

College of the Rockies has seven campuses with two main campuses located in Cranbrook that houses the administrative departments and the student services and trades programme centres. The eight Rockies campuses are named as Cranbrook campus, Gold Creek campus, Creston campus, Fernie campus, Golden campus, Invermere campus and Kimberley campus. With the expansion of the college over the years, it also started adding programmes and courses and today the College of the Rockies offers a wide range of courses in different areas of study. Some of the popular courses offered at the Rockies include Business, Health, University Studies, Child, Youth and Family Studies, Tourism, Recreation, Trades and Adult Upgrading, Global Studies, Kinesiology and Office Administration.
