Union County College (UCC) was founded as the first community college in New Jersey in 1933. Since the year of its foundation, the college has been transforming the lives of hundreds of students by offering them the best academic programmes at an affordable cost. UCC is a strong community of students, faculty and staff from distinctive backgrounds and belonging to different regions in the country. Studying at UCC is a lifelong opportunity for students to excel academically, professionally and personally as well. The academic curriculum of courses offered at UCC is regularly updated to meet the changing industry and societal needs.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Union College Community College (UCC) has three campuses, viz. Cranford, Elizabeth, and Plainfield and two extended campuses, which are located in Rahway and Scotch Plains. The main campus of UCC, i.e. the Cranford Campus expands across an area of 48 acres and bordersWestfield on Springfield Avenue and houses eight major buildings for classroom sessions, practicals, labs as well as recreation. Currently, UCC offers 60 different degree programmes and certificate courses including the two-years Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS) courses that allow students to transfer to four-year institutions for junior and senior years. The faculty and staff at UCC are highly committed and supportive and play a major role in transforming the lives of students. Students opting to study at UCC will be able to choose between courses in fields such as Allied Sciences, Business and Management, Civil Service and Paralegal, Humanities, STEM, Social Sciences and many more.

Union County College (UCC) is dedicated to educational excellence and helps students to build analytical and critical thinking. Since its inception in 1933, over 1 million students have studied and graduated from the university. UCC alumni are located worldwide, involved in different professions and activities. Many have accomplished extraordinary achievements in different fields and are recognised in their fields. The UCC Alumni Association is a private non-profit organization that maintains connections with the alumni and community of the college. Members of this group are eligible to receive exclusive benefits like the privilege to use college facilities, funds, etc.

Union County College is a community of students, staff and faculty belonging to 83 different countries. The college prides itself on transforming the career of students by offering career-oriented courses and providing job opportunities to them after graduation. UCC has set various centres to guide its students and community related to career options and job opportunities.

COVID-19 Response 

Adhering to the guidelines provided by the US government, Union County College has released the appropriate COVID-19 Response. In a bid to keep the students, staff and faculty members safe during such unprecedented times, UCC has adapted to offer hybrid models of learning and strict social distancing measures.

  • UCC started Spring 2021 session in January remotely for the first three weeks and later some classes were shifted to face to face interactions on campus.

  • There is no impact on classes that are to be continued in online mode remotely or to be conducted ‘live’ online until further notice. 

  • College services are available on campus, including, the study hall, library, Wifi and student service centres are available.

  • Students visiting the campus must avoid close interactions and gatherings. They must wear a mask at all times, and follow the COVID-19 guidelines outlined by the government.

  • Those who feel sick are encouraged to stay at home and inform the concerned departments of the university of the same.

UCC Scholarship

Every year, the Union County College (UCC) offers more than 200 scholarships to students and helps them achieve their educational goals. The scholarship awarded by UCC is on a First Come First Serve Basis and it depends on various factors like the academic background, involvement in extracurricular activities, social services, motivation etc of the applicant. 

Eligibility Criteria

The general eligibility criteria that a candidate must meet to be considered for the UCC Scholarship is as follows:

  • Must be enrolled in a degree or certificate programme of at least 6 credits in a semester.

  • Must fill the UCC application before the deadline.

  • Must attend the Scholarship Reception honouring all scholarship recipients.

  • Must have a good academic background and be motivated.

How to Apply for UCC Scholarship?

Candidates interested in applying for the UCC Scholarship must access the scholarship application form on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) website. The deadline is usually denied by the respective college and also FAFSA sets a separate deadline for each academic year. Candidates must confirm the dates and apply for a scholarship.
