Seattle University (SU) is a private institution Established in 1891, known to be the largest independent institution in Northwest US. Formally known as Immaculate Conception Parish School, Seattle College changed its name to Seattle University, under Father Albert A. Lemieux, S.J. in 1948. In 1993, the Seattle University School of Law was established through the purchase of the Law School from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, and the School of Law moved to the Seattle campus in 1999. SU has been affiliated with The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU), The Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU), the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) and The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). According to the US News & World Report 2020, SU has been #139 in National Universities, #49 in Best Undergraduate Teaching, #85 Best Value Schools and #26 in Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs. 

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The university campus is spread over an area of 50 acres. It provides all the facilities required by the students. The campus has a food waste compost facility, pesticide-free grounds, recycling setup, and energy-saving plans. The library at the campus consists of over 2,00,000 books, journals, and research papers. Seattle University offers 61 bachelor's degree programs, 31 graduate degree programs, and 27 certificate programs, plus law school and a doctoral program in education and comprises 8 colleges within the campus, namely the School of Business & Economics, College of Arts & Science, School of Law, School of Theology & Ministry, Ricci College, School of Nursing, College of Education and College of Science & Engineering.
