History,  Affiliation, and Rankings 

California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB), is a public university founded in 1994, in Monterey County, California. It was the 21st campus in the California State University system. CSUMB has been affiliated with the California State University system and The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). It is ranked in top #26 Regional Universities in the West and #3 in the U.S in performance on social mobility by the US News 2020 Edition.

Infrastructure, Campus, and Courses

California State University, Monterey Bay campus is spread across 1350 acres. Its main campus is located on the section of the previous military base Fort Ord, balancing the cities of Seaside and Marina, about one mile inland from Monterey Bay at the Central Coast of California. The most common courses offered are degrees in Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Science in Education. A few of the majors offered are Biology, Business Administration, Cinematic Arts & Technology, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Tech & Policy, Environmental Studies, Global Studies, Marine Science, Mathematics, Music, Nursing, Psychology, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Statistics.

Accomplishments & Alumni 

CSUMB has also been awarded the President's Award for Higher Education Community Service twice. The university's goal is to be carbon neutral by 2030, with a solar array, installed in 2010, currently attending 16 percent of the university's requirements. Also, the university's Dining Commons was awarded LEED Silver certification in 2011. More than 20,000 individuals have graduated from CSUMB since the college was established in 1994, among whom are an Academy Award winner, a teacher of the year, a worldwide wine industry executive, a New York Times writer, a scientist at the South Pole, and a lead LinkedIn web developer, just to consider as examples. Some prominent alumni are Lisa Fortier, Sierra Roberts, and Jane Kim.

Student Diversity and Visiting companies

The college has students from different backgrounds and welcomes many international students each year. Students here are majorly Hispanic with White, African American and Filipino American, and Native American. The international students’ numbers are approximately 400, representing 35 countries. With 62% of the students being female, the university is considered to be predominantly female. The Career Development Office encourages employers the opportunity to know the students and alumni from all majors and diverse backgrounds. Top employers include Google, Amazon, Caterpillar, Xerox, and so on.
