UK Young Professional Scheme for Indians Opens in February - No Job, No Sponsor Required!

Introducing the scheme last year, the UK is gearing up to open their new immigration scheme qualifying 3,000 Indians to live and work in the country without a sponsor or even a job offer, every year. The offer had been introduced to welcome Indian professionals between the ages of 18 and 30 to find a job in the UK and live in the country for a period of two years.

In a recent tweet by the British High Commission in India, it was announced that eligible applicants should submit their interest in the Young Professionals Scheme by enrolling in a ballot scheduled between February 28 and March 2, 2023. The ballot is designed to randomly select candidates, who will be invited to submit their visa applications.

The programme had been introduced to be reciprocal in nature. In other words, UK professionals will be permitted to participate in a professional exchange by living and working in India.

The Young Professionals Scheme has been introduced as part of a larger Youth Mobility Scheme, designed to work through a two-tier system. This system allows select applicants from different countries can directly apply for a visa or go through a selection by ballot, depending on the candidate’s country of origin.

As per reports, candidates from Australia (30,000 places), New Zealand (13,000), Canada (6,000), Iceland (1,000), San Morino (1,000) and Monaco (1,000) can apply directly for a visa. Meanwhile, applicants from India (3,000 places), Japan (1,500), Taiwan (1,000), Hong Kong (1,000) and South Korea (1,000) go through a selection ballot. Reports have revealed that India, apart from Japan, is the only visa-requiring country with a similar scheme.
