5 Indian Students to Study at Oxford after Selection for Rhodes Scholarship 2023

Five Indian students have been selected for the Rhodes Scholarship 2023 at the University of Oxford. A medical student from Chennai, an English major from Allahabad, two economics majors from Panchkula and Delhi, and a physicist from Delhi are among those selected for the scholarship.

In recent news, five Indian students have been selected for the Rhodes Scholars-Elect for India 2023. They were selected after a tough application process that included a competitive exam and one round of preliminary interviews.

In October 2023, these students will join the University of Oxford to enrol in a cohort of more than 100 scholars from different countries who will also be pursuing fully funded postgraduate studies at Oxford.

The Rhodes Scholarship 2023 is a fully-funded scholarship for brilliant, driven, and motivated students from all across the world. Funded by the Rhodes Trust in Oxford, this scholarship was first awarded in the year 1902. It is both the oldest and one of the most Popular Scholarships for Indian Students to Study in the UK. The Rhodes Trust awards 100 fully funded scholarships to international students each year.

The University of Oxford is one of the most esteemed universities worldwide in terms of teaching, learning, and research. It is ranked #1 among the top 10 universities in the UK as well as in the QS Global World University Subject Rankings 2022. Currently, Oxford University is home to more than 25,000 international students. Out of which, 12,510 are undergraduate students and 13,044 are postgraduate students.

Furthermore, the Rhodes Scholarship 2023 covers all types of expenses of the selected candidates until the total duration of the postgraduate degree programme. These five Indian students made the best of the remarkable opportunity to study in the UK for free. Here is a brief introduction to selected students:

Hansa Mukherjee: At the University of Delhi's Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Hansa is a final-year economics student. For the purpose of enhancing women's healthcare outcomes, she is interested in exploring social and behavioural treatments.

Syed Muhammed Khalid: Khalid is a final-year English student at the University of Delhi's St Stephen's College. He enjoys reading and learning about literature and the documentation of people's movements and stories. To better understand the diversity within the group and how members react to challenges to their identity, he seeks to examine Indian Muslims in South Asia.

Vedanta Thapar: Vedanta is a physics student in her final year at St. Stephen's College in Delhi. He intends to pursue mathematical modelling and scientific computing at Oxford with a focus on climate dynamics and the difficulties associated with developing effective policies.

Daksh Walia: At Ashoka University, Daksh is a final-year master's student studying economics. He is particularly interested in researching the factors that influence women's labour force participation in India and comprehending the economics of climate change.

Dr Kirtana Sivasubramanian: Kirtana received her MBBS degree from the Government Medical College at Chennai's Omandurar Government Estate. She is eager to investigate fundamental ideas in T-cell biology at Oxford to improve immunotherapy for autoimmune and cancerous diseases.
