Established in 1851, The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, is a public research university in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota. Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The Twin Cities campus comprises locations in Minneapolis and St. Paul is approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) apart, and the St. Paul's location is in neighboring Falcon Heights. Furthermore, the campus is spread across a total of 2,730 acres of land and is divided into 3 areas, namely the Knoll area, Mall area, and the Health area. The University comprises 3 centers and 3 institutes namely, The Centre for Cognitive Sciences, The Centre for Law and Values in Health, Environment and Life Sciences and The Minnesota Population Centre. The 3 institutes are, The Institute for Environment, The Institute for Translational Neuroscience and The Institute for Advanced Study. The most popular majors at the University of Minnesota--Twin Cities include Biological and Biomedical Sciences; Engineering; Social Sciences; Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; and Psychology.

Accomplishments & Alumni

One of the major accomplishments of the University of Minnesota faculty, alumni, and researchers is that collectively they have won over 26 Nobel Prizes and 3 Pulitzer Prizes. The scientists and faculty members of the university have made notable researches and developments like a precursor to the World Wide Web, the invention of the point-contact transistor, Gopher, data analysis related to gravitational theories, the discovery of puffed rice and the development of the artificial pacemaker. The notable list of alumni involves Herb Brookes (Hockey coach in the Olympics), Bob Dylan (Nobel Prize for Literature), Hubert Humphrey (38th VP of the United States), Nick Clegg (Deputy Prime Minister of UK), Walter Mondale (42nd VP of the United States), Norman Borlaug (Nobel Prize in Peace) and Deke Slayton (Astronaut).
