National Louis University is a private university that started in the year 1886 by Elizabeth Harrison began the school as “Kindergarteners” run by young women with the aim of providing education to the children. There were a number of times the university name changed and in 1930 it was named National College of Education.

Now the main campus of NLU is located in Chicago, Illinois, which is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The university ranks between #293-#381 in National Universities by the U.S. News and World Report 2020 Edition.

National Louis University Illinois campuses are in Downtown Chicago, Elgin, Lisle, North Shore, and Wheeling and Tampa, Florida.
The University has four colleges. They are School of Professional Studies and Advancement, Kendall College of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management, National College of Education, and Undergraduate College.
Popular major include Multi-/Interdisciplinary Studies, Other; Hospitality Administration/Management, General; Management Science; Early Childhood Education and Teaching; and Health and Medical Administrative Services.  

Accomplishments & Alumni 

About 63 percent of full-time undergraduates at NLU receive some kind of need-based financial aid. Also, the university features at #328 in Top Performers on Social Mobility (tie). 
Notable alumni include children’s book writer Andrew Clements, member of senate like Linda Holmes, member of  Illinois House of Representatives Kate Cloonen, Betty Reed, Lamont J. Robinson Jr., Barbara Wheeler, Curtis Brandt Smith Jr., to name a few.

The university has a total enrollment of 9,000 out of which 4,900 (54%) are graduate students and 4,100 (46%) undergraduate. The university also has a female attendance of 79%. International students representing 11 countries also pursue their academic goals at the university. Top organizations where the alumni work include Chicago Public Schools,  Milwaukee Public Schools, UPS, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, and AT&T.
