The universities of Holland tend to attract a large number of international students for admission to their courses. The students who wish to study at the Universities of Holland must know about the following examinations that they need to take.
There is no specific entrance examination for most of the universities of Holland.
Students from non-English speaking countries must take standardized an English proficiency test such as IELTS or TOEFL.
The admission process may vary for different universities in Holland. Here are the general instructions that the students can follow to enrol for higher education admission at the Universities of Holland.
1. Select Course and Choose University
There are numerous Universities that offer a wide range of courses at Holland. The students must explore and research about the Universities and the programmes offered to determine their area of interest. Also, the student must check the eligibility criteria to ensure they meet the minimum entry requirement to apply at the university.
2. Take an English Proficiency Test
Students who belong to non-English speaking countries must undertake an English language test like TOEFL or IELTS. Check the university requirements for the minimum marks required in English proficiency exams.
3. Prepare Documents
Try and gather all the required supporting documents for admission of international students to universities in Holland. Depending on the university and the course of application, the following documents may be required.
High-school certificate
College or University certificates (for master’s applicants)
IELTS or TOEFL score-card
Curriculum Vitae or Resume
Letter(s) of reference
Personal statement

4. Complete the Application Procedure
Visit the official website of the University to register and complete the application procedure. Ensure to fill the application and upload the required documents before the deadline.
The students who are from a non-European country or a non-EEA (European Economic Area) countries must apply for a student visa to pursue higher education in Holland.
Machtiging tot Voorlopig Verblijf (MVV) is offered to students as the permit to enter the Netherlands. It is valid for a three-month (90-day) period.
The university applies for an MVV on behalf of its students.
Students whose programmes extend beyond the 90-day period must apply for a residence permit (VVR) to stay further and complete their study in Holland.
While applying for a visa, a student needs to submit certain supporting documents. The following are the compulsory documents required to apply for a student visa to Holland.
Valid passport (with at least 12 months of validity left)
Proof of financial support. It includes bank statements, scholarship award letters etc.
Confirmation of Admission from a university
Health insurance
Proof of payment of fee
