Established in 1911, Southern Methodist University is a private research university that is associated with the American Council on Education, International Association of Methodist-related Schools, Universities Research Association, and Oak Ridge Associated Universities. Southern Methodist University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate, masters, doctorate, and professional degrees. Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The main university campus is spread across a total area of 237 acres. Furthermore, the university has two other campuses, namely the Taos campus and Plano campus. The Taos campus is spread over 423 acres of land whereas the Plano campus is comparatively a smaller campus, which spreads across an area of 16 acres. The university grants degrees from its 8 different schools: Edwin L. Cox School of Business, Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, Dedman School of Law, Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering, Perkins School of Theology, Algur H. Meadows School of the Arts, Moody School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, and Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development. The most popular majors at the university are Advertising, Anthropology, Business, Literature, Management, and Art.

The University has been ranked #42 in U.S Best Business School 2020, by Bloomberg. Also, it has been ranked #92 in Global MBA Ranking 2019 by Financial Times.
