History, Affiliations, and Rankings
Founded in 1890 as Dominican College by the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael, it is one of the oldest universities in California. Dominican is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). This school ranks 23rd in Regional Universities West, 24th in most desirable value establishments, and 41st in Top Performers on Social Mobility according to US News ranking and World Report 2020.
Infrastructure, Campus, and Courses
The university is located in the city of San Rafael and has a campus size is 80 acres. Along with the academic and residential spaces, the campus has a private Ansel Adams photograph Collection, Della Robia sculpture Collection, and a Forest Meadows Amphitheater. The Dominican University of California offers more than 50 undergraduate majors. Popular majors include health professions and related programs, Business, Management, Marketing, Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Psychology, and Visual and Performing Arts.
Accomplishments & Alumni
Dominican has driven the Pacific West Gathering in scholarly execution. Dominican students have won the PacWest Scholarly Accomplishment Grant nine of the most recent 10 years. Notable alumni include screenwriter Kelly Bonbright, Angela Salinas, Marion Irvine, Hannah stocking, Jaw Yi-Ying, Annie Cruz, Inez Storer, John Smith, Robert Tracker, William Gagan and some more.
Student Diversity and Visiting companies
With 1,737 full-time students, the university offers some kind of aid to 99% of first-year undergraduate students. The institution is predominantly female with 72% women and 28% men in the undergraduate programs. Almost 90% of the students come from California. A humble number of 22 international students also pursue their academics at Dominican. Companies like IBM, BOX, CDW, Addison Group hire graduates from the university.
