Philipp Ackerman, German Ambassador said that nearly 15% of the Indian student visa applications have fake documents. He also said that currently, 30,000 Indian students were studying in Germany.
Ackerman added that the false documents were forged by agents on behalf of those students. German authorities are now closely monitoring the visa applications in lieu of such activities.

Ackerman also assured that students who have received visas through the legal procedure will not face any consequences.
The ambassador had earlier said that students who are supposed to attend classes in German universities might face visa delays. However, the situation is likely to improve in the later part of the year.
Noticeably, this is not the only time German authorities have noted and reported about Indian students submitting false visa documents. In August 2022, around 35 students were accused of submitting false documents to the German consulate. Those students had submitted fake invitation letters, income tax returns and agreements to the German consulate.
These fake documents of studentvisa applications were submitted between 2017-19. The immigration officers found that the income tax returns of some students were forged. An applicant even submitted a fake invitation letter where he claimed to visit an exhibition in Germany. These applicants are not allowed to enter Germany for breaking the law.

Moreover, those who have valid documents are also facing problems to get visas. Ackerman advised students to directly contact German universities for visa delays. He said that the matter was heartbreaking and they will not be able to attend the classes due to the faults of the German embassy.
