How the US Laws Apply to You as an International Student?

Referred to as a 'litigious society', each jurisdiction in the US operates on its own laws such as state, federal, and local community. You must know how the US laws apply to you as an international student and the consequences of their violation.
Alcohol Consumption
Drinking in public is unlawful in the US regardless of age; the legal drinking age is 21. Also, it is also prohibited to carry open alcohol containers in public places.
Use of Marijuana
At the federal level, marijuana use is illegal, regardless of how US states interpret the law. The use of it could lead to the permanent revocation of your student visa.
Roaming Around or Visiting City Parks When Closed
It is illegal to remain or simply roam around in a city park after it is closed. For any visits, keep track of the closing times of the parks near your residential area.
Traffic Rule Violations
It is essential that international students are familiar with US driving laws to avoid receiving traffic tickets for violations such as speeding or running red lights.
Interpersonal Relationships
If you engage in misbehaviour, harassment, or stalking, this could be a serious crime and you may lose your F1/J1 status and even be barred from reentering the US again.
