Western Illinois University has seen a significant rise in international student enrollment in 2021. According to the officials of the school, the university enrolled more than 650 international students for the Fall 2021 term which is the highest number in the past 30 years. There is also an increase in attendance by international students. The overall enrollment at the WIU for Fall 2021 remains stable with 2346 new students joining the university.
The administration of the university is looking forward to expanding the global market to boost its attendance. The new Vice President for Enrollment Management, Amber Schultz says that the university is committed to making WIU a diverse and accessible campus. He also said that the long term goal of the university is to see a 20% increase in enrollment by 2027.
WIU President Guiyou Huang thanked everyone who played a role in increasing the new student enrollment in Fall Term 2021. He said that after joining as a President at EIU in January 2021, his main initiative was to enhance the enrollment and recruitment management strategies.
