The 20th edition of the QS World University Rankings 2024 was released by QS, the largest international higher education network. It features 1,500 universities across 104 countries of the globe and is one of a kind to emphasise employability and sustainability.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology is at the helm of the list securing the first rank with the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford closely following it at its heels.

In this year’s rankings, QS implemented its largest-ever methodological enhancement and introduced three new metrics: Employment Outcomes, Sustainability and International Research Network.
The rankings and outcomes have been declared based on an analysis of 1.75m academic papers and the expertise of over 2,40,000 academic faculty and employers.

The three new metrics on QS World University Rankings 2024 that have been introduced are:

Sustainability: This year 5% weightage has been added to sustainability and it has been introduced to find the crucial role that universities play in mapping the course and manoeuvring changes towards a sustainable future.

Employment Outcomes: QS is the only ranking institution that emphasises the importance of employability in its methodology. They have increased the weight of Employer Reputation to 15% and added 5% to Employment Outcomes.

International Research Network: This is a metric that recognises the importance of research in the dynamic world.
