De Montfort University was established as a public university in the city of Leicester in the UK. The university has undergone many transformations in its name from Leicester School of Art to Leicester Colleges of Art and Technology to Leicester Polytechnic and finally to De Montfort University. The name has been taken from the 13th-century Earl of Leicester, Simon de Montfort in 1992. Currently, the university is divided into four faculties, namely, Art, Design, and Humanities, Business and Law, Health and Life Sciences, and Computing, Engineering, and Media. De Montfort University has been a Sustainable Development Hub since 2018, focusing on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions as envisioned by the United Nations. The universityoffers more than 100 undergraduate courses and over 70 postgraduate programs in the areas of business, law, art, design, humanities, media, engineering, energy, computing, sciences, and social sciences. Distance learning option is also available at the university.
De Montfort University is located near Leicester Castle which was probably built around 1070. Its campus has 10halls of residence with around 3,000 university-sourced rooms and contains buildings such as Trinity House, Hawthorne Building, Aston Building, Vijay Patel Building among others. De Montfort University offers scholarships to its international students. These are as follows:
DMU International Scholarship
The students taking admission for part-time and full-time undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses are eligible for a scholarship amount of GBP 1,500. The amount will be automatically deducted from the fees. The scholarship is available only to first-year students and is on a first come first serve basis. The eligibility criteria are to be an international fees payer and must have made a pre-payment of GBP 4000 as tuition fees.
High Achievers Scholarships
The High Achievers Scholarship is for students of undergraduate courses. The scholarship gives a GBP 3,000, GBP 5,000, or a full fee waiver to international students achieving a score of 70% or above in their previous studies. This award is given in the first year of the course. The students getting above 80% will get a full fee waiver.
Early Payment Discount
GBP 500 is discounted on payment of half of the tuition fees at the earliest.
DMU Sports Scholarship
The amount of sports scholarship is up to GBP 6,000 and is awarded to five students who are athletes and are competing at a high representative level.
Sustainability Scholarship
The scholarship is available to international postgraduate students. GBP 4,000 is awarded as a discount from the tuition fees.
