The University of Ottawa was founded in the year 1848 in Canada’s capital city of Ottawa. During its initial days, it was called College of Bytown and was renamed to College of Ottawa in the year 1861. Within 1866, it had received the status of a University. Today, the University of Ottawa is the largest Bilingual University in the world offering courses in both English and French languages. With more than 450 programs to offer, the University of Ottawa is currently ranked at 281st position in the QS Global World Ranking, mainly due to its higher placement percentage. A member of Canada’s U15 University, it also has the world’s largest law school.
Infrastructure, Camps & Courses
The University of Ottawa is known for offering more than 450 programs under 10 different faculties. The programs are offered in various branches of Humanities, Science, Engineering, Health and Social Science. The University also offers some Short Duration Master’s and Doctorate level programmes. All these courses attract more than 40,000 students from not only Canada and North America, but also from all over the world. In addition to the courses mentioned above, the University of Ottawa is also known for some of the best online courses that are offered both during the Fall Term and Winter Term.

A range of activities has been developed by the University of Ottawa, especially for the new students, which helps them get used to the campus life of the University. Also, a range of vivid activities is conducted by the Ottawa Students’ Union (UOSU) every year aimed at helping the students find the joy of student life. One such event is the 101 week that is conducted for a period of seven days which hosts activities like comedy nights, concerts, charity events, beach trips etc which makes the Ottawa University campus life a memorable one for the students.
