History, Affiliations & Rankings
The four schools/campuses that are presently part of Saskatchewan Polytechnic were initially four individual schools. Saskatchewan Technical Institute, Central Saskatchewan Technical Institute, Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Arts and Science, and Northern Institute of Technology. The Institute Act and the Regional Colleges Act had brought together all the institutes to form the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology which came to be known as Saskatchewan Polytechnic from 24th September 2014. The institution is a recognized public college in Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan Polytechnic is ranked 109th by Webometrics.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
Saskatchewan Polytechnic has four campuses at Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina & Saskatoon & distance education. Important learning centres across the four campuses are Joseph A. Remai School of Construction, School of Business, School of Health Sciences, School of Nursing, and School of Transportation. Saskatchewan offers programs and courses in visual/applied media, basic education, human/community services, health services, trades/industrial, nursing, tourism and recreation, aviation, business, engineering technology, food/hospitality services, natural resources, technology, and science.
Accomplishments & Alumni
Innovative Manufacturing program at the Polytechnic is a result of a collaboration with industry and employers. Notable alumni of Saskatchewan Polytechnic include Canadian Politician Hugh Nerlien, Farmer and Former Political Figure Sherwin Petersen, Politician Bob Deptuck, Canadian Politician Roger Parent and American Baseball Player Elsie Wingrove.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
In 2019, Saskatchewan Polytechnic enrolled 16,0008 students in its various courses. has 26,000 students with programs that touch every sector of the economy. More than 1000 international students also pursue their academic goals at the institution. As many as 661 students are Indians. The gender ratio at the university is positive with 57% of the students being women and 43% men.
