The Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology (Niagara College and branded as Niagara College Canada) is a public College of Applied Arts and Technology within the Niagara Region of Southern Ontario, Canada that was established in 1967. The College is affiliated with the Canadian Institutional Research and Planning Association (CIRPA). It is also a member of the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP). Other affiliations are CCAA, ACCC, AUCC, CBIE. It is recognised as one of the best regional universities in Canada. It ranks 32 in regional universities north, 18 in best colleges for veterans and 7 in best value schools.
Infrastructure, Campus and Courses
Located in Welland Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. The college has three campuses: the Welland Campus in Welland, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and the Taif Campus in Ta'if, Saudi Arabia. The three-storey educational facility, featuring a greenhouse centre, the new Niagara Waters Spa, the Niagara Culinary Institute and its 100-seat dining room and the Niagara College Teaching Winery, is located at the base of the Niagara Escarpment, a World Biosphere Reserve. At Niagara College, more than 9,000 full-time students study in diploma, graduate certificate, apprenticeship and Bachelor’s Degree programs. The most sought after courses are Business, Game Design, Game Programming, and Hospitality.
Accomplishments and Alumni
Listed among AAESHE’s top 10 performers from associate colleges, NC ranked ninth overall and earned a STARS silver rating. NC achieved a third-place ranking in the area of Wellbeing and Work, with a score of 86.6%. The College has been recognized as a top performer in the 2019 Sustainable Campus Index. The institution is now a contribution to Project Hero, a scholarship program for the family members of fallen Canadian Forces. Notable alumni include names like Bernie McNamee, Edward Burtynsky, Shirley Coppen, Dan Dunleavy, Peter Kormos, Mark Suknanan and John Campea among many others.
Student Diversity and Visiting Companies
The university has 37.2% of international students with their roots from more than 60 countries. Every year, Niagara College conducts a job fair to help students connect with employers. The college is known for its community support and respect and acceptance of all, irrespective of how they identify themselves. One of the notable alumnus of the institution, Mark Suknanan, identifies themselves as LGBTQ community member. The companies such as Niagra Health, District School Board of Niagara, Meridian Credit Union, Vintage Hotels, Bell Media, and Walker Industries recruit their human resource from the institution.
